Green Altruism: Attitudes Towards Future Generations

I used to live an ‘eternal present’, meaning I was only living my ‘today’ without really considering the implications for ‘tomorrow’. When I got my my first job and the first bills-to-pay came along, I started thinking more about the future. I went on to save up money, pay more attention to my daily diet, workout more, and realized someday I would have to provide for my own family. It hit me like a rock: everything I do now will be reflected in my future, and therefore in the people I care about. What type of world would I have to face in 20, 30 years from now? Would my family be able to drink water safely, or are we going to need masks to breathe outside because of the unbearable pollution? I freaked out.

As a huge advocate of all things green living: recycling, reusing and reducing, I’m always in the look out for new ways to make sure my physiological needs – which greatly impact the environment – are as harmless as possible. On the other side I’m also an advocate of social justice when it comes to connecting all my human actions into a legacy of doing-good to others. So of course, altruism not only means to help other people selflessly, but to care for the environment, the world we live in, and its future occupants. Continue reading »

After pioneering the first Social Media Job Hunt Tour ever, I knew I was responsible for providing a summary of the events lived, and amazing people met. So, let’s get started!

The main reason for going on this tour was to meet in person contacts I had previously made through different social networks – mostly using Twitter. For those early adopters this might sound like old news, but for the rest of you, get ready for the digital era.

[Editor's Note: This article was originally written for BostInnovation]

When I started actively attending a variety of startup and entrepreneurial events around Boston and taking classes at Emerson College, one of the things I first noticed was how everyone seemed to use Twitter.
